What are the differences between gantry machining centers and gantry milling machines?
Gantry machining centers and gantry milling machines are all large CNC machine tools. The processing objects of both are the same, which are large workpieces, such as large castings, sheet metal parts, or large box parts. Both are widely used in the mold processing industry. The machining process of gantry milling machines and gantry machining centers is the same, and their bed structures are also similar. The gantry machining center and gantry milling machine are automated machining-type CNC machine tools controlled by CNC system programs. Both should be classified as high-performance CNC machine tools in terms of machining accuracy and efficiency. The more intuitive difference is that the gantry machining center has a tool magazine with an automatic tool changer, while the gantry milling machine does not. It wouldn't be so hard to tell that the gantry machining center equipped with a tool magazine has an automatic tool-changing function, so it can be said that the machining accuracy of the gantry machining center is higher than that of the gantry milling machine. It is easy to see from the summary that when using a gantry milling machine, manual replacement of suitable tools for different types of machining is required, while gantry machining centers can automatically change tools through a robotic arm.
