As the core of machining centers, advanced numerical control systems (CNC) are used to control the actions of machine tools, including tool paths, speeds, cutting parameters, etc., to ensure the accuracy and consistency of machining. There are two common types of CNC systems in the market: imported and domestically produced, which can be selected according to clients' demands.

Equipped with a tool magazine, it can automatically replace different types of tools to meet different processing needs, significantly improving production efficiency. There are various forms of tool magazines, including disc type, bucket type, and chain type. Large gantry machining centers often use disc or bucket-type tool magazines.

The gantry machining center can perform high-precision milling, drilling, tapping, and other operations on long metal plates by linking X, Y, and Z axes and possible additional axes (such as A, and B). In addition to the standard X, Y, and Z three-axis linkage, some large gantry machining centers also support additional axes, such as rotation axes A, B, C, etc., to achieve five or more axis linkage machining, which can more flexibly handle complex surface and angle machining tasks.

The lubrication system adopts an active type system, which is controlled by a numerical control system to supply oil as needed and can warn of potential oil circuit problems in advance, extending the service life of the machine tool.

The workbench is usually rectangular and can carry large parts.

For example, some gantry machines with a width of 3.2 meters or even larger can process ultra-wide workpieces.
