What parts are suitable for machining with a three-axis machining center machine?
The commonly used three-axis machining centers are divided into two types: vertical machining centers and horizontal machining centers. A vertical spindle is called a vertical machining center, and a horizontal spindle is called a horizontal machining center. The fundamental difference between the two types of machining centers is that the most effective machining surface for vertical machining centers (three-axis) is the top surface of the workpiece. In contrast, the rotary worktable for horizontal machining centers can complete the four-sided machining of the workpiece.
Vertical machining center:
The structural form is generally fixed vertically, and the workbench is mostly rectangular. Vertical machining centers usually have three linear motion coordinates, X, Y, and Z axes. For production demands, a fourth axis A can also be set on the workbench. The vertical machining center is easy to clamp, observe the machining situation, and debug the program. However, its column height and tool-changing method are limited, and it cannot process tall parts. Its characteristics are simple structure, small size, small footprint, and moderate price, and it belongs to economical CNC machining equipment.
Horizontal machining center:
Adopting a mobile column, the spindle box moves up and down along the guide rail between two columns. It usually has three linear motion coordinates, facing the machine tool, moving left and right as the X axis, moving forward and backward as the Z axis, and moving up and down as the Y axis. It can also install a fourth axis A axis on the workbench. The debugging program for horizontal machining centers is inconvenient to observe during trial cutting and machining, and it is problematic to clamp and measure parts, but it is easy to arrange pins during machining. Compared with vertical machining centers, it has a complex structure, a large body size, a large footprint, and a relatively higher price.
Three-axis CNC machining technology plays an important role in the manufacturing of precision non-standard components. It can not only achieve high-precision and high-efficiency processing but also customize production according to the specific needs of customers. This has led to the widespread application of three-axis CNC machining in fields such as aerospace, medical equipment, automotive and component manufacturing, and mold manufacturing.
In the aerospace field, three-axis CNC machining technology is used to process high-precision components such as aircraft engines, turbines, and blades. These components have extremely high requirements for machining accuracy and surface quality, and only CNC machining technology can meet their needs.
In the field of medical devices, three-axis CNC machining technology is used to process high-precision surgical instruments and medical equipment components, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of medical equipment.
In the field of automobile and parts manufacturing, three-axis CNC machining technology is used to process engine, chassis, body, interior, and other components. These components require high precision in shape and size, and the use of CNC machining technology can greatly improve production efficiency and product quality.
In the field of mold manufacturing, three-axis CNC machining technology is used to process molds, gauges, fixtures, etc., ensuring the accuracy and stability of the molds.
The main materials processed by vertical machining centers are plates or profiles. For example, raw materials such as aluminum sheets, aluminum honeycomb sheets, aluminum-plastic sheets, engineering plastic material, composite plastic, profiles, etc. are suitable for processing flat camshafts, box covers, cylinder heads, etc. With the continuous development of CNC machine tool technology, three-axis machining centers have become the most important processing equipment in the mechanical processing industry. They have a wide range of applications and multiple processing functions and have been widely recognized and applied by a large number of mechanical processing enterprises.
